Scart Connectors The most common type of internconnect for TV, Video and DVD equipment. Available in various lengths from .5 metre up to 3 metre. |

Phono or RCA Connector This is commonly used to connect audio equipment, but is also found on surround sound systems, Video and DVD players. |

S-Video Connector Found on high quality TV's, Video and DVD Players / Recordset. Only carries picture information and is normally used in conjunction with Phono/RCA leads for audio. The plug colour is normally yellow. |

Jack Plug Not commn on TV's and Vidoe etc. But used on Digital Cameras and Video Cameras. Most of these devices are supplied with a suitable lead (Jack plug to RCA) for transfering / watching images and video, for example, to a video or DVD recorder.
Jack plugs come in three sizes 2.5, 3.5, 6 mm. |

Shown below is a common setup for a full AV system. Note that in this configuration Scart leads are used as interocnnects for the AV signals. However, these could be replaced with S-Video and RCA for improved picture quality. If your equipment has the facility, SPDIF (digital) connector could be used to obtain the best picture / sound quality possible. |
